Our racial differences have deepened my understanding that God made everyone in His image. In spite of our outward differences we can share so much in common that transends race. We are truely family, so close, even if no one would know we're related if you saw us on the street.

When we first met, the hurdle we needed to cross was parental support. On my side the advice of from my parents was concern mostly based on stereotypes they saw growing up. Mostly in the case of my dad who felt like racism is an on going issue to compatibility. But they supported us once it was clear we loved each other. On Michelle's side her dad said it was a bid idea, but do what you want to. He said people will not treat us kindly and we will have to face that. Michelle's mom has been a constant supporter. People don't really treat us equally in all cases. Michelle gets more respect sometimes, and it causes some tension. I think our faith is what holds us together. We know we could have more friends if we were one race, but God put us together and people who love us don't care.
