I think race affects our marriage in a lot of ways and most of those are positive. I love that our backgrounds are so different which makes our perspectives more interesting. I love the way we educate each other about the difference in our cultures. I love that I was raised knowing who Jackie Robinson was and Heather wasn't and that she knew who Hank Williams was and I didn't. The thought I love the most is that our two different cultures and races will come together one day and make a third. -Ellison |

Race definitely plays a role in our marriage. My husband does not just want to grow into an adult man- he wants to grow up to be a noble Black adult man. He wants his family, particularly his brothers to look up to him. Not as a black man married to a white woman, but as a black man who stayed married to the same woman, faithfully. -Heather |
